Be Careful With Screens

One of my pet peeves has always been when an advertiser or ad agency puts a screened image behind the text. It may look good on a computer monitor where the light shines from behind but on newsprint it makes your ad look dirty. Don't do this!

Only skillful graphic designers can pull this off and I would discourage it altogether. You want people to READ what your ad has to say. The higher the contrast of your ad, the more attention it will draw.

Decades of Experience

I started this blog to help people getthe most out of their newspaper advertising. For close to 20 years I designed ads for major daily newspapers so I have experienced alot of works and what doesn't. If you have any specific questions you can post a comment and I will respond as quickly as I can.
